A Letter from Our President

For nearly 70 years, the Gormeley name has been synonymous with craftsmanship and integrity across the Metropolitan construction industry. 

Our story begins with my grandfather, a proud labor leader who served as head of the construction union in Jersey City. He was a man who understood, from the ground up, what it means to build. That foundation shaped everything that followed.

My father carried those values onto the jobsite, rising to foreman for New York City’s most respected firms and contributing to landmark public housing projects across the region. In 1983, my father and I founded Gormeley Construction, growing it into one of the most sought-after concrete and masonry companies in the tri-state area. 

Over the next two decades, we expanded into general contracting, earning a reputation for excellence on some of the public sector’s most demanding projects.

Today, that legacy enters its fourth generation. My son Eric and I are proud to introduce Deugen Development & Construction, a full-service real estate development and construction firm built on the same foundation of family, skill, and commitment that has defined us from the very beginning.

We develop our own projects across Northern New Jersey and take on fee-development assignments for owners who want a partner with builder DNA. From site selection through entitlements, financing, and delivery, the same team carries the project end to end.

Construction

Full general contracting, construction management, and design-build – the discipline Gormeley Construction was built on, now applied across every asset class Deugen touches.
